Trinity Tennis is Alive & Exciting!

The Trinity Tennis team traveled across Michigan Ave to take on Catholic University for their first match of the fall tennis season. Trinity Tennis is alive and exciting, we are learning to have fun and enjoy competition” said Head Coach Enoch Thompson.
With a mix of new players and returners, the doubles were a challenge but there were definite bright spots in the singles matches. First-year Cuaresma Gillard fought hard in her college debut, scoring two points in the first set and four in the second, but could not secure the win. Coach Thompson said “Cuaresma played an outstanding and very competitive match, she learns quickly and I am happy she is a Tiger”.
Returner Guyberlie Cinada, also had a great showing to start the fall season. Coach Thompson praised her heroic efforts and applauded a job well done by the entire team yesterday despite the loss. The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Pennsylvania to play new opponent Juniata for a noon match.
Trinity Athletics Cancels Athletic Events for Rest of Spring
Trinity Washington University has announced the cancellation of all spring athletic activities beginning Friday afternoon, March 13, 2020. The cancellation of all athletic activities, including practices, and all home and away contests ends the season for Trinity Washington’s softball team and tennis team. This is a very tough decision to make but it is the best decision during this difficult time as we aim to make sure that the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff are our main priority.
Trinity Washington University Director of Athletics Monique McLean said “I am devastated for our seniors and this abrupt ending to their college careers. However, I trust that we made the right decision. This an unprecedented, challenging situation that we hope will aid the process of getting our country on the right side of this pandemic. We are extremely thankful to our student-athletes, coaches and staff for all of their hard-work and dedication this academic year.”
