Trinity Tigers had a good season, we ended the season with four total wins this year. This year we focused on building our team chemistry, developing our skill set and becoming well rounded players. Our Tigers fought hard, prevailed through difficulty and truly gave it their all this season. As we head into our off season we will continue to build our team, get stronger and be better athletes all around . Let’s hear some words from our Head Women’s Basketball Coach Angela Richmond.
“We have a lot to celebrate, and even more to be grateful for as our 22-23′ season draws to a close. I am extremely proud of the development of the players on my team as they continue to grow in their purpose. This team dealt with a lot of adversity and they handled it with very well. We finished the season strong as we have evolved into a completely different team. We have great momentum going into the next season, as we continue to progress forward. There was growth on and off the court for our student athletes and I am extremely proud of them. I’m already excited about next year because I know these athletes will continue to put the work in over the summer to get better for next season, and the best part is they all returning.”
Thank you to everyone who supported us along the journey, to our fans, families, Trinity Washington University, and Trinity Washington University Athletics Department. The march to next season starts today, and the climb continues to get better each day as we continue to build and prepare for next season!!!

This was Trinity’s first home game win of the year with a final score of 72-48! The crowd was energetic, the team was ecstatic, and this was the boost our Tigers needed to head into the next game vs Hollins with some momentum! The Tigers displayed good teamwork, played with high energy, and had fun winning a home game in front of a great supportive tiger crowd. Dominque Davis also received the “Eye of the Tiger” Award for her contribution. The “Eye of the Tiger Award,” will be presented to our players at home games based of their performance. These young ladies have set high expectations for the remaining games of the season. Trinity Tigers put up a good fight vs Hollins but came shy of 9 pts in a loss to Hollins over the weekend with the final score of 67-76.
We talked to head coach Angela Richmond after the game Tuesday and here’s what she had to say “These young ladies have been dealing with so much adversity this year that they were deserving not only to win a home game but to have fun and do it in front of our home crowd. They played together and it looked good. We matured as a team this year and hopefully everything will transfer into the next game and next season. They are getting better each game and winning at home gave them a lot of confidence to go into the next game. I’m so excited, this is just the beginning of a new culture!”

Trinity Tennis Comes Up Short Against Sweet Briar but Focuses on Positives: Game Recap & Season Preview
WASHINGTON D.C.— Trinity Washington University’s tennis team officially swung into their spring 2020 slate today at Sweet Briar College. The Tigers loss the match 0-9, but are looking at the glass half-full with this being the beginning of the season with three new players who are both freshman and new to the sport. “This match was a good experience for our tennis team; we are learning,” said Coach Thompson as he reflected over the match’s score sheet.
Sophomore, Katheryn Najarro, acted as the lone Tiger in winning at least one game over her opponent in the singles sets, 1-6. “Katheryn was barreling hard. She was the last one standing. [She was] the Tiger of the day,” said Coach Thompson.
This is only the beginning for the Trinity tennis team as they look ahead to nine more matches to round out their spring season. Following spring break, the Tigers will host Lancaster Bible College on March 16 at 3:30 PM. This will be Lancaster’s first game of the spring season coming off of only one game in the fall against Albright (W, 6-1.)
The home contest is one of the four consecutive home matches that Trinity’s tennis team will have.
With the majority of Coach Thompson’s players being either unfamiliar to college athletics or the sport of tennis, he says that his goal is to “encourage each player to work harder and improve overall performance on and off the tennis courts.” Every coach would hone in on solely winning games as their definition of success, but Coach Thompson has proven to not be “every coach.” He states that his key points for success as a team this season is first keeping “them motivated to compete and hav[ing] fun also.”
The Tigers will follow their four home-game streak up with a match at McDaniel College on March 28th at 12 PM.
On April 3 at 3 PM, they will travel to a close-by Stevenson University.
The following week, April 11, the Tigers will travel to Hollins University, which will be their second match up of the season as they will, first, host Hollins on March 20th.
The Tigers will travel to PSU Abingdon on April 13th, and conclude their season with a trip, just down the road, to Notre Dame of Maryland on April 22nd: their second and final match up of the spring season.
