Athletics Direct Report – Karen Gerlach

Dr. Karen Gerlach, Vice President for Student Affairs

gerlachkDr. Gerlach is the Vice President for Student Affairs at Trinity Washington University.  The Director of Athletics and the Athletics program at Trinity is a direct report to Dr. Gerlach.  In addition to Athletics, Dr. Gerlach also oversees Health and Wellness, Student Activities, Campus Housing and Residence Life, Dean of Student Services and Campus Ministry.

Dr. Gerlach holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Wilkes University, a Master of Arts Degree in Education from American University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education from American University.  Dr. Gerlach has over 20 years experience as a higher education administrator ranging from Financial Aid to Residence Life to Student Activities.  Prior to coming to Trinity Washington University in 2013, Dr. Gerlach served as the Director of Student Activities at American University in Washington DC.  She also served as an adjunct faculty member from 2008 to 2014 teaching courses in Foundations of Education; Legal Issues in Educations, Student Services Foundation and Philosophy; Curriculum Design and Instruction and Effective Online Instruction – Design and Practice.

Dr. Gerlach serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet; Chair of CARE behavioral intervention team and the CAS Enrollment Management Team.   Further, she is an active member of ACPA (American College Personnel Association) and NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators).
