2011 Student-Athlete Insurance
Primary Coverage: The primary insurance policy covers approximately 70% of medical expenses up to $2,400 per injury. Please see the plan booklet for specific coverage amounts. The student-athlete is responsible for expenses not covered by the primary policy.
Co-Pays/Deductibles: $20 for Physician’s office visit
$200 for Emergency room visit (waived if admitted)
$10 deductible per prescription, $250 max per year
Secondary Coverage: The student-athlete may use their personal/family primary insurance as a secondary insurance (overage) policy. This may help pay for the expenses not covered by the primary policy.
Athletic Coverage: If the injury occurred as a result of participation in varsity athletics, any claims above the $2,500 maximum of the primary policy are covered up to $75,000.
This does not include expenses not covered by primary policy.
Catastrophic Coverage: The NCAA sponsors a Catastrophic Injury Insurance Program which covers the student-athlete who is catastrophically injured while participating in a covered intercollegiate athletic activity. The policy has a $75,000 deductible and provides benefits in excess of any other valid and collectible insurance.
