Tigers Lose in Gallaudet Holiday Tournament Championship
Washington, DC- The Trinity Washington University basketball team lost 75-43 against Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon in the tournament finals.
The Tigers drop to 4-5 while the Aggies improve 3-7. In Friday’s first round Trinity defeated Gallaudet University, 55-46 and Delaware Valley defeated Catholic 64-63 in overtime.
Trinity was down 19-7 after the first quarter. The Tigers began the second quarter with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to three (19-16) with five minutes on the clock. The Aggies drained a three with seven seconds remaining, leading 29-21 at half.
The Tigers had a rough time keeping up with the Aggies second half getting outscored 46-22. This solidified the win for the Aggies.
Freshman Whitney Hall ended the game with 15 points and added five rebounds. Hayes tallied 12 points and grabbed three rebounds. Alyssa King totaled nine points and Asha Curry added seven rebounds.
Freshman Alyssa King and Junior Camileia Collier made the All-Tournament team for Trinity, and D. Skedzielewski and E. Anastasi for Delaware Valley.
The Tigers will return to action Saturday, January 16th against Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA. Tip-off is 12pm.
