Association of Division III Independents

Names 2015 All-Independent  Women’s Volleybal l  Teams

 

OVERLAND PARK, KAN.— The 2015 All-Independent Women’s Volleyball teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.

 

Player of the Year

Alison Renz, Maranatha Baptist University, JR, Middle Blocker, Lake Mills, Wis. – Renzranked first in the AD3I in kills (333), kills per set (3.74) and hitting percentage (.359).  Renz also led the AD3I in solo blocks (22) and total blocks (76).

 

Setter of the Year

Adriane Walther, Illinois Institute of Technology, Senior, Chicago, Ill.— Walther was one ofthe most dynamic setters in the Midwest this season. A senior captain, Walther tallied 7.33 assists per set (2nd in AD3I) and a total of 814 assists (1st in AD3I) on the season (32 matches).

 

Libero of the Year

Kennedy Hegert, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Junior, Lincoln, Neb.—Hegert led the AD3Iin digs averaging 5.37 per set in Division III matches. Overall, she finished with 539 digs, averaging 5.5 per set.

 

Rookie of the Year

Alyssa Miner, Illinois Institute of Technology, FR, Middle Hitter, Bartlett, Ill. – Miner logged171 kills (6th in AD3I, 1.54 per set) and a team-high 68 blocks (3rd in AD3I, 13 solo, 55 assisted). She also had 24 aces on the season.

 

Coach of the Year

Regina DeLozier, Maranatha Baptist University.

The women’s volleyball coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member

schools selected the All-Independent Women’s Volleyball teams.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of nine NCAA Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
