Student Athlete of the Week
Senior Asha Curry plays volleyball and basketball at Trinity. She was born in Washington, DC and raised in Maryland. Asha is a Communications Major who has hopes of becoming a Sports Broadcaster.
Q: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
A: Umm…. 10 years from now I will be 31. I would like to have my dream job as a sports broadcaster. Hopefully I will be settled down and married to the perfect husband. I would like to have two kids, a boy and a girl.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: Hidden talents?? That is a hard question. I am ambidextrous and I can put my leg behind my head. Besides that IDK (laughs out loud).
Q: Who is your biggest influence? Why?
A: I would have to say my mother. My mom is very hard on me. At times I get frustrated, but then I realize that’s her way of showing that she cares and that she believes in me.
Q: What is something you like to do in your leisure time?
A: Hmmmm… I like to do a lot of things, but most of all I love being around children. Sometimes my old boss at will call me and ask me if I can cover a shift or two at the day camp. I love it; sometimes I do it for free. I also like to spend time with my sister. She’s getting to that age where it is possible for her to be influenced by the wrong crowd. I just love to be around her, and to give her sisterly advice.
Q: How long have you been playing sports?
A: ALL OF MY LIFE! I’ve always been active in some shape or form. I started with dance, and then went to cheerleading. After that, I moved on to volleyball and Double Dutch. A few years later I started playing basketball.
Q: What is your favorite part about being a Trinity student athlete?
A: I really love the vibe from the players and the coaches. There is no pressure; I like the fact that I can go out there have fun, and play with my teammates.
Q: What is your favorite midnight snack?
A: I don’t have a favorite midnight snack. My snacking ranges from cookies and chips to fruit.
Q: What is your favorite class here at Trinity?
A: This semester I don’t have a favorite class (LOL). However, the one class I liked the most was my Interpersonal Communications class. Professor Perita Carpenter taught the class.
Q: Who is your favorite super hero?
A: I really like Batman. Not the cartoon, but the movie! OMGHHHHHHH the movie The Dark Night was amazing, full of nonstop action!
